Milan have extended Gianluca Zambrotta's contract until 2012, the club announced in a statement on Thursday.
A note on the club's official website reads:
"A.C Milan communicates to have extended the contract of Gianluca Zambrotta until June 30, 2012."
The move is thus a confirmation of Massimiliano Allegri's stance of keeping the squad together. He said on Wednesday his current outfit "offered ample guarantee" and that the need for an overhaul was not urgent, despite a trophyless campaign last term under Leonardo's leadership.
For Zambrotta the extension represents an additional year of action as his previous terms were set to expire at the end of the 2010-11 season.
His renewal follows that of Massimo Oddo, who also secured his future at San Siro until 2012 on Tuesday.
