Roma Keen On Milan Defender Marek Jankulovski

Roma are hoping to capture Milan outcast Marek Jankulovski as Claudio Ranieri continues his attempts to assemble his defence for the new season.

Sportal.it reports Jankulovski is edging closer to tearing his way out of Milan, but Roma have stitched together a rescue plan.

Ranieri sees the defender as a good alternative for John Arne Riise. Roma are intent on fighting for the Scudetto, Champions League and Coppa Italia, and the coach wants cover for the Norwegian so he can be given some rest throughout the campaign.

Jankulovski was close to leaving Milan in January, but refused an offer from Inter, who were then looking for cover after Davide Santon had a double operation on his knee. Genoa were keen, but he turned them down last month.

But with options closing at Milanello, coach Massimiliano Allegri sees him as peripheral following the arrival of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, and Roma could appeal.
